Kansas requires insurers to offer at least one Medicare Supplement policy to those under sixty-five afflicted with disability.
Mini-COBRA Laws (small group)
Kansas mandates small employer continuation coverage for eighteen months following separation.
Medicare Savings Programs (Premium Support)
Kansas has three Medicare Savings Programs:

Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMBs): For individuals with a monthly income under $903 and for couples with a monthly income under $1215, the state pays all premiums for Part B and all Co-Pays and Deductibles for Medicare Part A & Part B.

Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiaries (SLMBs): For individuals with income under $1083 or couples with income under $1457, the state pays premiums for Part B.

Qualified Individuals (QIs): For individuals with income under $1219 or for couples with an income under $1640, the state pays premiums for Part B.
To qualify for any one of these programs, participants must have assets below $6600or be part of a couple with assets below $9910.

The Kansas Health Insurance Association provides Kansas residents with coverage on the basis of medical and HCTC eligibility.

State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)
Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) is administered by the Kansas Department on Aging. Volunteers are available for each of the state’s 105 counties.SHICK also publishes its webpage and toll-free hotline to reach people with Medicare.

State Tax Credit for Health Insurance
Kansas offers a refundable tax credit to small employers who offer small employer health plans to eligible employees (those working at least thirty hours/week) and who have not contributed to the employee's premiums or health savings accounts in the two years prior to claiming credit. The credit amounts to $70/month per enrollee although it decreases over time. Can be claimed for up to three years.
Low-Income Subsidy (“extra-help”) for Prescription Drugs
This program is a subsidy for Medicare Part D recipients with resources under $13,070 (or $26,120 for a couple) to receive money towards a Medicare prescription drug plan. The benchmark of support is different depending on which region of the country you live in. In Indiana in 2012, the low-income subsidy was $36.67per month.
