Group Health Incorporated (GHI) is the largest not-for-profit health insurance provider in New York. They have been helping keep New Yorkers healthy since 1937 when they were first founded as the Group Health Association of New York. Over the years they’ve experienced several name changes, becoming GHI in 1971, but they haven’t changed their dedication to their customers. They offer a variety of medical, dental, vision, mental health, hospital, and prescription drug plans and services to 2.1 million individuals. In 1999, GHI was selected by the federal government as the first health services corporation to be the single nationwide administrator for Medicare’s Coordination of Benefits (COB) for the country’s 40 million Medicare beneficiaries.
They offer services to a variety of people including businesses with fewer than 50 employees, medium to large businesses withover 50 employees, individual, family, Medicare, Medicaid, prescription drug plan, dental coverage, a special September 11th program to offer insurance to those affected by 9/11 , as well as many other available plans.
GHI has 3 Medicare plans available. GHI PPO Medicare Advantage plans, these are PPO Plans and can come with or without drug coverage. These Medicare Advantage plans provide more than Original Medicare alone. Benefits like vision, dental, and hearing, disease management programs and more, plus you receive the same kind of attentive and accessible service that is important to you. With GHI’s Medicare Advantage plans you can also choose in or out of network services.
GHI PPO Medicare Advantage Special Needs (SNP) Plans are any dual and value Plans with medical and drug coverage. These plans are for those members who are receiving assistance from the state or are in a Medicare savings plan. The SNP plans were intended for people who fall into these categories and reside in NYC, Westchester, and Rockland Counties. GHI’s prescription drug plan offers a drug only coverage option.
If you are enrolled in any GHI prescription drug plan, you are able to receive drug insurance from any pharmacy within GHI’s preferred network or a Medicare-approved provider.
