Excellus is a member of the Blue Cross Blue Shield family of companies that have been helping people since 1932. They are headquartered in Rochester, NY and provide healthcare services to upstate New York. Previously the operations were known as BlueCross BlueShield of Central New York, BlueCross BlueShield of the Rochester Area, and BlueCross BlueShield of Utica-Watertown. They joined together and changed their name to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield in 2003. They have four regional headquarters as well as their field offices. These are located in Syracuse, Elmira, Rochester, and Utica with additional offices in Watertown, Binghamton, Oneonta and Plattsburg. Excellus is upstate New York’s largest nonprofit health plan, and covers around 1.8 million members.

 

They offer their members a wide variety of services and plans. HealthyBlue rewards you for living healthier. SimplyBlue is quality, low cost coverage that also includes gym membership. For their Medicare customers they have a vast network of services and health care providers. Excellus offers five PPO plans as well as supplemental plans. The monthly premiums for their PPO plans can vary depending on the county you reside in.

 

Medicare Blue PPO – Plan one offers no monthly premium to enrolled members. There is a set copay for select services like the $20 co-pay for doctor visits and the $40 co-pay for specialists. This plan also offers prescription coverage.

 

Medicare Blue PPO – Plan two offers a set $15 co-pay for doctor visits and a $30 co-pay for specialists visits. This plan also offers prescription coverage.

 

Medicare Blue PPO – Plan three has a $10 co-pay for doctor visits and $25 specialist co-pays. This plan also offers prescription coverage.

 

Medicare Blue PPO – Plan four has no monthly premium. The doctor visit copay is $20 and the specialist co-pay is $30. This plan does not include prescription coverage.

 

Medicare Blue PPO – Plan five also has a lower monthly premium. The copay for doctor visits is $20 with a co-pay of $30 co-pay for specialists. This plan also offers prescription coverage.

 

Excellus offers 6 supplemental Medicare programs to provide the benefits that best fit your needs.  Plan A covers hospital coinsurance payments and helps pay Medicare Part B expenses. Plan B helps pay Medicare Part A deductibles as well as the benefits included in Plan A, like covering hospital coinsurance payments and help paying Medicare Part B expenses. Plan C also covers the benefits in Plan A, as wells as skilled nursing coinsurance, Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B deductibles, foreign travel emergency care, and some other hospital and medical expenses. Plan F gives you all the coverage of Plans A & B with the additions of skilled nursing coinsurance expenses, your Medicare Part B deductible, 100% of additional covered physician expenses, and coverage for emergency care when you travel outside the United States. Plan F Plus gives you all the benefits of Plan F but with lower premiums. To qualify for this plan you must meet requirements. The last plan is Plan H which offers all the coverage of Plans A & B, but also provides skilled nursing coinsurance, Medicare Part A deductible and foreign travel emergency care.
