Best Medicare and Best Medicare Advantage

Priority Health is currently one of Michigan’s leading health insurance providers. Since 1986 Priority has been a nationally recognized provider of managed-care health plans. Currently, Priority covers around half a million people in the Michigan area with their health plans. Priority coverage is offered by more than 8,000 employers. There are also more than 12,000 doctors and health care providers in the Priority network, as well as 100 acute-care hospitals.

In November 2008, Priority Health Medicare plans were rated the only 5 star plans in Michigan by a national survey for the second year in a row and U.S. News & World Report rated them as one of the nation’s top health plans for the third year.

They offer a variety of services including Medicare plans, Medicaid coverage, group and employer insurance plans, health savings accounts, PPO plans, HMO plans, and POS plans, and other services. Priority has a wide variety of insurance plans for Medicaid, Medicare, and for kids. Priority also offers medical spending accounts, health education programs, health management, dental and vision coverage services, and COBRA benefits in addition to a variety of other benefits.

Priority Health has announced that with their 2010 plans they will offer Medigap. The plans cover the gaps in traditional Medicare Part A and Part B coverage and will be available to all Michigan residents.

Priority offers three Medicare Advantage plans. All three are Advantage policies that include prescription drug coverage. They cover parts a, b, c, and d in one consolidated plan where there is no Medigap coverage needed. PriorityMedicare, PriorityMedicare Value, and PriorityMedicare Plus are Medicare Advantage health maintenance organizations (HMOs) with point-of-service (POS) options. As an HMO, they save you money any time you use their network of health care providers. Because it also has a POS option, you can use providers outside the network but you may pay more. The plans vary in their copay amounts for the different services. Our Medicare specialists can help you find the plan that works best for you.
