Geisinger was founded in 1915 by Abigail A. Geisinger.  At age 85 she built a hospital that ultimately became the Geisinger Health System. She insisted, "Make my hospital right; make it the best." Headquartered in Danville, Pennsylvania, Geisinger is a physician led healthcare system, spanning 43 counties of 20,000 square miles in central and northeast and serving 2.6 million people.

 

Geisinger is available in Pennsylvania in several regions. Geisinger's Central Region includes the greater Danville, PA area, where the main campus building is located. In the Northeast, there are two conveniently located campuses offering full-service care for residents in northeast Pennsylvania. In the rapidly changing Western area, which is based around State College, there are nine physicians’ offices that serve more than 100,000 patients. Geisinger has been a meaningful part of these areas for more than 30 years. With all of the changes and growth in the last few years, Geisinger has remained committed to growing and improving too. Geisinger is investing in the area as well as working to expand their specialty services offerings with the addition of the new Geisinger Gray’s Woods site as a clinical center for patients.

Gold Open is a PFFS plan, a private fee for service plan, that doesn’t require referrals and has Part D coverage available. This plan offers the most flexibility in regards to the doctors you can see, there is no network in this plan.

 

Gold Preferred is a PPO plan where there is no primary care physician selection, there are no referrals, and it gives you predictable expenses. You may chose any doctor or hospital you wish.

 

Gold Reserve is a Medical Savings Account that includes the MSA to help you pay for qualified medical expenses, and you don’t need referrals.

 

Gold Rx is a Prescription plan that allows you to save money on your prescriptions, there are thousands of covered drugs and you can get your prescriptions in the mail.
