The most popular plans are Gerber Life’s two Medicare Supplemental plans, as well as Blue Shield of California HMO 65 Plus plan, Blue Shield of California HMO 65 Plus Choice and Aetna’s Medicare Select HMO Plan.
Medicare Supplement Plan F offers basic copay coverage as well as Part A hospital deductible, skilled nursing facility copays, Part B deductible and emergency international coverage. Plan G offers mostly everything that Plan F offers, except it does not cover the Part B deductible but it includes annual at-home recovery benefits in which Plan F does not offer. Medicare Supplement Plan J covers the basic benefits as well as Part A and Part B deductible with foreign travel emergency and at-home recovery coverage. Plans F and J are most requested by senior citizens.
Blue Shield of California offers Medicare Supplement Plan F and Medicare Supplement Plan G. Plan F’s premium is $132 per month while Plan G’s premium is $130 per month.Gerber’s Plan F has a monthly premium of $142.67 and is accepted by all doctors who accept Medicare. Gerber’s Plan G has a monthly premium of $122.90 and is also accepted by doctors who accept Medicare. Pharmacy is not covered between either of the plans.
Gerber Life Insurance covers over 2.9 million policies and prides its Medicare Supplement plans on financial flexibility, low premiums and excellent customer service. The supplement plans are flexible in that members’ benefits increase as their Medicare Part A and Part B deductibles and copays increase.
Under Gerber Life’s plans, there is $0 copay in primary care visits, specialist visits, impatient hospital care, outpatient surgery as well as emergency and ambulance care. Skilled Nursing Facilities are covered from days 1-15 but from days 16-100 there is $100 copay. Routine eye exams are not covered.
