Medicare Plan networks:
It is important to choose a Medicare Plan that is given to you in your area. The Medicare Plans and Medicare carriers are given to you because they are a part of a network of doctors and hospitals. You must use doctors and hospitals within the network for your Medicare Plan coverage to be applicable. In the case of an emergency, you may be eligible for extended coverage.
Medicare Carriers and Plans:
There are three Medicare Carriers in Jersey City, NJ. They are Mutual of Omaha Medicare, Gerber Life Insurance Companies, and Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. These three companies offer a total of 17 different Medicare Plans in your area.
1. Mutual of Omaha Medicare: This carrier offers seven Medicare Plans in your area. They are Medicare Supplement Plan A, B, C, F, G, M, and N. Medicare Supplement Plan F offers extended coverage on fees, such as out-of-pocket fees, that you may encounter at a doctor’s office. In addition to the extended coverage, you will receive benefits of the Medicare Plan you choose.
This Medicare Supplement Plan F is offered to Jersey City, NJ residents for a monthly premium of $173.43. The co-pay for primary care and specialty care office visits in $0. Hospital inpatients (those who require over-night hospital stay) as well as hospital outpatients (those who require a hospital visit that is not an overnight-stay or who require medical service or equipment) will also have a $0 co-pay. Pharmacy costs are not covered with this plan. This includes such things as prescription drug costs.
2. Gerber Life Insurance Company: You may choose among four different Medicare Supplement Plans with this Medicare Carrier. They offer Medicare Supplements A, C, F, and G. Medicare Supplement Plan G gives coverage for charges associated with Medicare Part A and Part B, such as co-payments. However, it does not cover Part B deductible.
Medicare Supplement Part G is offered to Paterson, NJ by the carrier Gerber Life Insurance for a monthly premium of $155.68. There is a $0 co-pay for office visits, hospital inpatients, and hospital outpatients. Pharmacy charges are not covered with this Plan.
3. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey gives its customers six Medicare Plan options that can be added to their Medicare Advantage Plan. These Plans are POS Blue Access w/Rx Standard, HMO Blue Value w/Rx Standard, POS Blue Access, POS Blue Access w/Rx Enhanced, HMO Blue Value, and HMO Blue Value w/Rx Enhanced. A POS is a combination of PPO and HMO Plans, called a Point of Service Plan. A PPO is a Preferred Provider Organization and a HMO is a Health Maintenance Organization. They all refer to the coverage you will receive, as well as the benefits, according to your area. The Plans that have “w/Rx” means that Pharmacy costs will be covered by your plan (such as the cost or prescription drugs).
POS Blue Access w/Rx Standard has several benefits. This Medicare Plan is offered to Paterson, NJ for a monthly premium of $127.10. There will be a $15 co-pay for primary care office visits and a $35 co-pay for specialty office visits. A Hospital inpatient will have a $75 co-pay per day for the first 10 days of his or her visit. A hospital outpatient will have $35-$125 co-pay, depending on the cost of the visit. Pharmacy is covered with this Plan.
